CORPORATE NEWS │SPECIAL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
Wednesday, March 18, 2020
I know that we are all watching the development of the coronavirus pandemic with feelings of concern and uncertainty.
We all – the VERTU Hotels and Resorts family and the world in general – are in uncharted territory, and it is important that we remain calm, show solidarity and stand by each other in this difficult time.
To protect you and your families, our business, and the communities we live and work in, earlier today we had confirmation that all of VERTU Hotels and Resorts properties operations will be shut-down shortly if not already done. This means that as many colleagues, friends, consultants, partners and suppliers as possible are asked to work from home. By doing so, we will live up to our social responsibility to prevent the virus spreading further, while ensuring the business continuity that supports and enables our direct customers and the market segment we operate in, and so to be ready for a return to a normal operation date.
I realize that working from home comes with some issues for some, from dealing with restricted access to some of the tools you rely on, to enforced isolation from your teammates. Please be reassured that everyone involved is doing everything possible to minimize the disruption to the way we usually work. If you have questions or need further instructions, please feel free to contact me directly.
As expected and sadly confirmed by the European authorities, the entire hospitality industry is closing down for an unlimited period of time and this is obviously impacting our April 1st 2020 corporate meeting that is now postponed to an undefined date. We will be able to reschedule it once the European locked down is confirmed to be over.
Even though most of us will now be distanced from our colleagues and business partners, please stay in touch with each other and offer each other the necessary support. We remain a close VERTU Hotels and Resorts family whether we are in the same hotel and office or not.
Although we are all remotely operational, I cannot believe that, one day, I would say that we will work better separate than together - can this be as short as possible !
Stay safe and take benefit of this unfortunate situation to stay home and spend valuable time with your family and loved ones.
